Earth Day 2016 #Rooting4Trees
On Earth Day, April 22 2016, world leaders will gather in New York to sign the new Paris Climate Agreement. Earth Day Canada is asking people across Canada to sign the Earth Flag and take the pledge to reduce their carbon footprint, joining the hundreds of thousands of people, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who have already signed the Earth Flag. You can sign the flag at the Green Living Show (April 15-17th) or submit your signature on-line at earthday.ca.
If you are interested in participating in the official unveiling of the Earth Flag and want to sign it in person, come to the unveiling event on the first day of the Green Living Show, April 15th at noon.
At the same time, Earth Day Network, representing the global network of Earth Day organizations, is kicking off an ambitious campaign for Earth Day 2016 to plant 7.8 billion trees, one for every person on the planet, by 2020.
Canada’s contribution to this worldwide goal is 35 million trees — one per person in Canada.
In support, Earth Day Canada is #Rooting4Trees for Earth Day 2016. We are running a crowd-planting site at www.earthday.ca from April 1-30th (during Earth Month) with the goal of planting 25,000 trees for our 25th Anniversary. If we can plant 25,000 trees this Earth Day and every day until Earth Day 2020, we will reach 35 million trees – one for every person in Canada.
There are many ways to participate in #Rooting4Trees: - During Earth Month, from April 1 - 30, visit earthday.ca to participate in the crowd-planting 'pledge and plant' campaign and help us grow a forest of 25,000 trees this April. Participants can add their signatures to the Earth Flag when they root for trees!
- Want to get your hands dirty? Pledge a city tree and plant the tree yourself at an Earth Day tree planting event on National Tree Day - September 21st in select cities.
- Visit us at the Earth Day Canada head office at 276 Roncesvalles Avenue (Toronto) and take a selfie in our Forest Bathing exhibit! See hours at earthday.ca
- Visit our booth at the Green Living Show and sign the 25th anniversary Earth Flag and join the hundreds of thousands of people across Canada who have signed and take the pledge to “Make Earth Day Every Day and reduce my carbon footprint”, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau!
