How to use the product? The biodegradable shower curtain liner is great for at home use, while the eco-friendly shower cap and biodegradable apron are terrific options for the resto or manufacturing industries.
What was great about the product:
- The products can be recycled or composted.
- Each of the products we tested did their job as effectively as the traditional plastic versions.
- The packaging is made from 100% recycled paper and printed with soy and vegetable inks.
- The product is biodegradable in 1 to 5 years, depending on soil conditions.
What was NOT so great about the product: Some of the material is made in the U.S.A and then put together in Vietnam — that’s a lot of shipping across the globe to create a product.
The apron is one size fits all and was way to big on many of our female testers. We thought it would be great for a kids’ science class but, for the most part, our 10th graders were swimming in the apron. More size options are needed.
The elastic in the shower cap is not biodegradable, so you need to cut this out before putting it in the compost bin.
The shower curtain liner is made out of polyethylene with a biodegradable additive that starts to break down when certain fungi or bacteria come in contact with it. Polyethylene is the same plastic used in traditional shopping bags. So the products are not using recycled materials, but creating new material. So they’re not reducing the amount of plastic made, just making it easier to breakdown.
