From Trash to Treasure

Recycled decor gives new life to otherwise unusable objects.

There are entire photostreams on the photo-sharing website, Flickr, dedicated to cataloguing consumer items destined for landfill. But many people are trying to come up with a solution to non-recyclable packaging –artists in particular are responding to the challenge to recreate, reinvent and redesign the things which seem to have lost their value. Check out this collection of inventive and inspiring objects remade to have new form and function, and use them as inspiration to get crafty at home!

Trash to treasure? Pangea Organics, a natural skin care line turns their trash to treasure. The cartons are made of 100 percent renewable, recyclable, or biodegradable materials with vegetable-based inks. The cartons are embedded with seeds, like many other Pangea packaging, and can be planted after use. Now thats pretty cool- not only are you getting an organic successful skin product, but you are also given a starter kit to create your own little garden (or contribute to your existing one) check out their facebook fan page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Pangea-Organics/32395802556?ref=ts P.S. For every fan Pangea has on its fan page at the end of 2009, they will be planting a tree and maintaining it for 3 years in the Mata Atlantica, the most biodiverse area of the Brazilian rain forest..when they reach there goal of 30k trees they will be flying two down to Brazil to learn of the importance of biodiversity. So Cool!
